Free
Let me breathe
No longer shackled here
By a straightjacket agenda
You downloaded inside me
My heart is barricaded and braced
Tight
Fit to burst
Teeth and jaw ache
From words I have to bite down on
Like a wild horse
Too long bridled
I tear at my restraints
As my heart skips a beat
I was born to be free to run
Across an open plain
Where wild flowers grow
In an ancient meadow
And streams run to become rivers
That meet the ocean
Let my soul float freely
Like the supple branches of a willow tree in the breeze
That dance and kiss the surface of the water
As reflections of light
Glisten on the rippled surface
Let me feel my soul at home
In this animal body
Held
Soothed
And deeply embraced
By nature
Free to run
Free to love
Free to be
Free to breathe
This is so beautiful, and really speaks to my soul today. 🙂
