Belonging : connection

In the stillness

You showed me a vision of peace

It lived far from the life of humans

Resting here in the silence of nature

You restored my spirit to a missing state

Of serenity and connection

Years and years of longing

Focused in the wrong direction

Only made me emptier

Only made me more vulnerable

Through hunger

Hard to see now

How impossible it felt

To truly love myself

How crazy self abandonment made me

For when we lack a feeling of belonging and safety

Within our body and soul

Then we become vagabonds

Haunted by an empty life

Thank you for the gifts of pain

Pain taught me what hurt and made my soul ache

As over time it also showed me more and more clearly

Where the path to true freedom peace and serenity

Lay

Looking deep within my heart

I find now

A place of both belonging

And connection

As within the depths of inner stillness

My soul finds

A true reflection of all I longed for

Joy

Protection

Wisdom

Heartfelt longing

And inner protection

A true sense of self love

That neither denies or negates connection
