To be your own person : some reflections on Harry and Meghan

I have been watching the first episode of the Netflix documentary on Meghan and Harry this afternoon and I must confess to having cried through most of the first 18 minutes.. When I think of the term the Zs used in that channeled talk by Lee Harris I listened to and shared about last week the words heartless hierarchy come to mind.. It is obvious from the show the amount of love Meghan and Harry feel for one another, and also that their inner children connected from the first meeting in a heartful way. Also, that in so many ways Harry is his mother’s son, he speaks about the need to choose from his heart rather than his head and speaks of how his mother was the same and to me this lies at the core of the matter, admist all the vitriol and hate his pair seem to stir up in others, all of the accusations leveled at the what comes across most to me is the loss Harry suffered when young and of how he will always be affected by that and that that loss will play a huge part in all of his decisions. So I ask myself what right in the world has anyone to judge both of them and most especially Harry?

Watching the first episode the words came to me ‘to be your own person’ : to be comfortable in your own skin, to be natural and relaxed, and to be like a sun that just shines bestowing that warmth on others, was that not what Princess Diana did, challenging the old emotionally disconnected, stiff upper lip ethos of the Monarchy?

Harry says what drew him to Meghan was her empathy, compassion, confidence and warmth. Meghan as a Sun sign Leo seems to personify warm quality which provides an antidote to the stitched up repression and emotional coldness of Harry’s past.

In his own life he witnessed the struggle of his mother to blossom as herself within a loveless system that captured both her and Prince Charles and one which she struggled to break free of. Hounded by the paparazzi, the young Harry witnessed the struggle first hand as well as his mother’s fight. We can never know if the accident causing her death was due to a random media driven chase or a conspiracy as some claim. To my mind the former seems more likely and real, there was the car speeding as fast as it could to get away from being captured, to give Diana and Dody some privacy, admittedly a privacy they could never realistically expect. This, to me, is where the tears come in, that in so many ways the way in which this world is set up so often does tend to negate the freedom of those caught up in its webs and struggling to break free as Princess Di was and also her youngest son and his partner.

I have mentioned in blogs before that there is a strong connection between the astrological configurations of both the Queen and Meghan.. In the Queen’s chart the planet Neptune, the Moon and Black Moon Lilith lie in Leo and form part of a challenging aspect with Mars and Jupiter in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio.. The Moon sits 10 degrees out from that t square at 12 degrees of Leo but that still involves it the dynamic T-Square. Saturn in Scorpio in the charts of both the Queen and Prince Harry speaks of emotional repression and this theme is also carried on in the chart of Prince Harry’s father, Charles as a Sun sign Scorpio. In Prince Charles chart Mars as ruler of Scorpio colors his true desires and deep passion and indicates that the choice to love the woman of his own wanting (Camilla) had to be repressed and then he was shamed when the truth came to light of their intimate sexual conversations. This repression of choice of a partner also happened to the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret.. Duty and social expectations were instead expected to rule.

Princess Diana was co-opted into the ‘Firm’ or system and struggled deeply within it under pressure placed on Prince Charles.. It took her time to come out in the media with the truth, which is what Harry is now trying to do in this latest documentary, so in many ways I see he and Meghan trying to live out the quest for freedom. On this note Meghan’s Sun in Leo is very close to the placement of both the Queen’s Moon and Neptune as well as the Black Moon Lilith. Lilith was always free and never consented to be enslaved by the patriarchy nor owned nor dominated by the masculine.

Another interesting astrological tie up to me in terms of energy is that in Harry’s chart his Moon in Taurus (the same sign as his grandmother’s Sun) is in direct opposition to Saturn in Scorpio which sits on the exact degree to square the Queen’s Moon, Harry’s Saturn at 12 degrees Scorpio and the Queen’s Moon at 12 degrees of Leo. There is a carry on here emotionally that speaks to me of a repression he is trying to break free of. And in another interesting connection the Saturn of his daughter Lilibet connects all three charts. In Lilibet’s chart Saturn in Aquarius squares the Saturn of both Harry and his grandmother, while it also sits on top of the Queen’s Mars Jupiter conjunction in that sign and in so doing aspects all of the other planets involved in her Mars Saturn t-square.. Mars Saturn aspects lend a heavy, restricted, duty bound tone to action and desire, or the matter of choice. The t square in fixed signs along with the fixity of her Sun in early Taurus shows how dogged the Queen was in doing her duty.

The documentary also highlights how Harry struggled with the hounding by the media, especially in the wake of his mother’s death, occurring he was only 13. In his words following her death he and his brother William :

“had two hats to wear, one was two grieving sons wanting to cry, grieve, and to proess that grief because of losing our Mum and two was the royal hat, no emotion, get out there, meet people, shake hands.

The outpouring of emotion witnessed by the public must have increased the confusion as he states

The UK literally swept me and William up as their children.

The documentary also touches on how friends my struggle when someone they care about undergoes a loss. As one of Harry’s closest friends says

That was the first time you got to know him beyond a snapshot or a picture.

And that friend admits he really did not know then how to have a conversation about it fearing to do so may trigger something or not be the right or needed response.

Following Diana’s death in Harry’s words

thats when all of the stuff that had been happening to our Mum, started happening to us.

Harry began to act out a little as was to be expected often being chased down the road on foot so its really no surprise he lashed out at a photographer at the age of 14.

“Everything that was happening in the UK was so intense I was trying to balance the experience of loss of my mother without much support and feeling how unfair it all was. “

What probably saved Harry was a trip to Africa he took in 2004 at the age of 20 years while there he met Prince Seeiso the two bonded having both lost parents and here in the wilderness close to nature Harry could find not only the necessary time out but also a new family. This part of his journey bears witness to a strong grouping of energies in the fire sign of Sagittarius in Harry’s chart in the 9th house of long distance travel and learning. Mars sits here along with both Uranus and Neptune. Mercury is placed in wide square to these energies in the sign of Virgo, the same sign as Prince Harry’s Sun.. In Harry’s words here he finally found the necessary space and freedom (Sagittarius) “breathe, to live and to grow.” He also found here a loving second family.

During this part of the documentary I could not but help think of the dark feminine connection in association with the death of Princess Di who also felt a strong affinity to and with Africa. And also of the connection to Meghan which would not happen for Harry for another 12 years (one Jupiter cycle as ruler of Sag). In Africa in some of his humanitarian work Harry was ‘carrying Mum’s torch, keeping her legacy alive.” Whil there Harry was also given the name Mahale by Prince Seeiso. That name means ‘Warrior’. I see Harry as a light warrior or illuminator at ths time and also what a profound expression of Mars in Sagittarius energy.

After Harry and Meghan met he took her to Africa to share his love of it with her and also to a place where they could have time alone in nature and with the wild. There they could ‘both just be completely ourselves, with no distractions.’ Meghan was not unfamiliar with Africa though as she had already been undertaking her own humanitarian work there.

It is interesting that in one part of that first episode of the show, Prince Harry in talking of the cat and mouse game he watched the media play over the course of his life, makes this comment.

It s a case of the hunter versus the prey.

It seems to me the death of his mother is the force that drives Harry along with his desire to keep both Meghan and his two children ‘safe.’ But at the same time he is also using is voice to make people more aware of the heavy impact of racism and this issue is touched on more deeply in the third episode of the series. He is more than aware that many people may judge or dismiss him, but to my mind it is understandable, considering the circumstances, he has taken the actions he has chosen to. He obviously felt the need for distance and may in time see it is all a part of a far wider and deeper evolutionary unfolding and breaking open accompanying the ongoing transit of the planet of transformation, Pluto through the sign of Capricorn which rules both monarchy and tradition. What makes me feel sad and at times angry is the way both he and Meghan are so often ‘judged’, criticised or shame. As a strong and confident woman she obviously threatens a lot of misogynists. This kind of shame and jude culture though seem to be sadly the nature of much of our current social media.

Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us."
