once innocent

once you were

an innocent child

wide eyed

with a heart full

of wondering

and of magic

once you arrived here

on this difficult earth

there were so many questions you had

things you saw and sensed

that you struggled with

just remember now

how it felt

to be so pure

not yet corrupted by the wounding

and when the world hurts you

look deep inside your heart

so that you may understand

may answer any form of attack

with love

and remember that once

those who hurt you

an innocent child
