Grief is a spinning spiraling tide
With so much flotsam and jetsam
Buried deep inside
All of these past longings
Past fears
Part imaginings
Past memories
That rise
Unbidden
You reached for me again today
As I helped you to reassemble
More of the torn apart fragments
Of a life
It seems to me lately
We live so many different
Versions of our self
Over time
That we need these witnesses
These way showers
To hold us cohesively
Inside a vision of
Connectedness
These precious ones who
So lovingly
And over so many years
Help us to care for
And value
The broken apart pieces of our Self
We so easily discard
When we fail to honor the deeper patterns
Of the grief spiral
That moves deep within us
That carries our questing souls
Both backwards and forwards
Over the oceans of time
