Sadly in our inner child trauma
We hunger for others to love us
In the way we could not be loved
Before
Sadly in our trauma
Sometimes the real pain gets so buried
We no longer fully feel or understand it
But never the less
The part of us that seeks light
Will not consent to die
If we can just find a spark of truth to guide us
In the midst of that deep dark
Night wilderness we enter
Some say the Dark Night of the Soul
Will become a journey
In which we deepen
To become more deeply connected
An interesting
Self focused but not self obsessed being
Open to the irony
And implicit chaos and messiness
Of a life
This makes sense to me
Sadly we judge each other’s wounds
Never fully understanding their origins
And so we too often sin against
Our fellow man
By denying what lives in the shadows
We block the way to both
Regeneration and new life
For even as our flesh and bones
Grow older
Still somewhere deep inside
A possible revolution
A new inward turning
Is seeking to
Come about
