When our heart speaks

We must listen

Allow the bridge of longing and loving

To open across the chasm

That kept us apart from it

For far too long

Let down those walls of division in the mind

That prevent us being

Present loving and kind

To ourselves and our inner child

Today as I walked

The sun shone brightly in its radiance

Tinging each fallen leaf with irridescense

What a beautiful way

To start my day

Feeling the freely moving power of my limbs

Drinking in oxygen and ecstasy

Accompanied by birdsong

For the rest of my life

This is my commitment

To honor my child

And listen to my heart

And never again turn a deaf ear

To the presence of life

Awake and vibrating with potency

Even as the voices of the past

Clamor for attention I must

Center within

Listen to a deeper calling

And do my very best

To turn my attention toward

This most precious of gifts
