In a parallel life
I am close to my soul
Feeling my heart home
Amidst my kin
Sun translucent on my skin
The heat of truth is the fire the moves me
And I have no fear of it
Or memories of ice
In a parallel life
I am dancing
Wild and free
Above the city
As flocks of seagulls fly past
And my spirit soars
In time to the beat
In another life
Liquid honey runs in my veins
I feel no sense of exile
Mistaken identity or shame
But this is not my current life
Only a dream
That takes me unawares
On long slow draw out
Late summer afternoons
As my soul stares into the
Strange distance
And my beating heart
Dances in time
To the slower rhythms
Rising like
A stirring tide
Spinning me sideways
Making my soul fall
Slowly, softly, gently
Into the bittersweet dream
Of this present moment
