Sun rise : to come alive

Far behind my eyes

I sensed the immanence of sun rise

Ocean of sensations streaming through

As I tense upon this

Teetering presentient

Razor’s edge

Holding my breath is never

Fully conscious

Wild waves leeping

Waking brings arrest

Aa shadows grow in power

Yet shifting focus I begin to surface

Red or blue

Which emotion do I chose

Or is this lie I tell myself?

Golden Light

You dispel the fading darkness

As I hear the dawn chorus

Reminding me of ancestral lands

You are always with me

But lately please I must choose life

But I will always remember

How hard you fought

How brave you were

And yet so scared

Swimming and swimming as fast as you could

Even as all of those killing forces

Surrounded you

Taunted you to abandon

Hope

So if you fight

I will reach deep to understand

The longing that lay beneath

Snagged on the jaggered reefs of denied grief

You struggled as I struggle now

Battling to rise

To hope

To love

To live

To dare

To awaken

To come alive
