I was mistaken

When I looked to you for answers

There were times you devalued me

And there were times I know

You judged me too

It’s okay

I realize it now

Life is not here to affirm my ego

Nor to make a demon of it

After all

We all long for love

But giving ourselves away to obtain

Something that can only come about

When we connect truthfully and deeply to our authentic source

Only ends in shame. heart break

And emotional exhaustion

There is a light you must find

If you want to stay warm

Do not seek to be comforted by another’s fire

But tend to your own

And then those who also do

Will be drawn to you

And together you can bear
