What was
Has been and gone
Even as its disturbing tendrils
Pull my being here and there
Leaving their traces deeply etched
Beneath my surface
Do those we chose to engage with
Arrive by accident
Or did our soul summon them up
Like vapours rising
From a stagnant pond
Of challenging history
And if so
How open am I to finding m
My hidden faces
Reflected in your mirror?
Let then my soul be compassionate
But awake
Do not let me fall asleep
And when I do
Send me the dream
That with its healing symbol
Will open my heart and mind
To buried wisdom
Let me forget too sometimes
How much you hurt me
What good will holding onto this pain
Do
After all
As unconscious as you were
Was not your wounded fractured soul
Hurting
Too
