Once they were
Small defenseless children
Born into a traumatized world
Turned cold
So now if you rail against her
Take some time to step out side for a while
Of your aggrieved self
Do you understand how it was for her
With so few of the privileges
We now enjoy?
And yet so often even these
Become the blind prison in which we are lost
Sadly she never got to sing and dance
Or be truly cherished and held fast
To a loving heart
To free herself
She worked her fingers to the bone
To make a place
In this world
And even if then
She forgot what was most important
Make sure that you find ways to
Remember
Never turn your back on
Love understanding and empathy
For that will only make you
Ignorant, blind,
Deaf, dumb
And unkind
She may not have given you want you needed
But despite your own pain
Find a way to claim it now
And try your very best
To remember her
With love
