Some days the words long to flow out from you
Like water from a healing spring
Sometimes after days of utter pain
A sense of rising love
Brims over the surface of your heart
As the scars that hurt you
Stop burning with the fire
That provided you the experience
Of both agony and light
These days of peace and wonder
It seems to me
Arise like a blessing
As the inner voices of destruction become
Faint
Then it is you let your body move
Your being open
And as you sit silently by the church
Watching families leave
Beside you
You spy a parked car
Belonging to a beautiful African family
With the words written on the driver’s side
Faith
Hope
And love
Suddenly it all makes sense
Every single tear that fell
Or scream that rose was
An oh so critical and necessary part
Of your healing
Of your understanding
Of your redemption
So thank the wisdom of your Self
That allowed you to feel it
And make a home for it all
Deep inside of you
Realizing with a releasing of all shame
That those who walked away
Did so for a reason
Truly there is no living soul
Who should try to dam or block the flow
Of another’s living spring.
