I only know this
Defenses of steel
Form around the tender seeds
Of the vulnerable soul
And the wild wolf that originally lives
Within our skin
Can not
Forever be tamed
By rejection and punishment
So when you look upon mankind’s
Unfeeling, unbending, steely nature
Bear a thought for the deep wounds
The damaged suffered, carried
Or bore witness to in silence
Before you judge and climb onto your lofty
Self righteous perch
Try to take the dive inwards
And turn back the one way mirror
That does not enable you to
Embrace the breadths and depths and complexity
Of human paradox and duality
There are those that wound and the knives and razors they use
Are sharp
This appears to make of them m
Monsters
But I do firmly believe
That deep within the tormented heart
Of every serial killer or terrorizing perpetrator
Once lived the fragile, tender and vulnerable heart
Of a precious and innocent child
