To care

The world may not care

But we must

And keep trusting in goodness

Removing the selfish blinkers

That do not allow us to see further

Through our own foggy spectacles

Some of us are asked

To hold our own hands alone

We never had the luxury

Of knowing

What true support was

Even when it drew close

Forces around us conspired to keep us apart

Never the less

We can care

And care deeply

We do not have to give into despair

By trusting in the unreliable

Because there are things we can rely upon

Like air

And nature

And peace

And contentment

And joy

It all depends upon

This

Are we willing to listen to

And nurture

The little child

Who lives inside our hearts

Who really knows

How to trust

Find joy

And most of all

Love

And how important it is

To show up

For when these inner needs

They are fulfilled

Then surely it is up to us

To care
