I am a wild thing

Feasting on air

Restless for flight

But with inner longing too

To walk on this earthly ground

Feeling my soul

Soothed by gentle rain

And when you remain so close to me

Even amidst all of these storms

Then it is I feel the sunlight breaking through

God knows we can survive alone

And for many of us who fell

I was simply because

There was little to trust in

Or lean upon

And then the fear of being held

Of being loved again

Makes some of us run

But when we are truly loved

Nothing stems the tide of warmth that rushes in

Unthawing all of the frozen places

And when this kingdom of ice melts

It will be the light of your love

The warmth of your spirit

That sets this frozen prisoner
