When the silence calls
Your name
There is a place you go
So far away from this world
There in the darkening place
You feel the embrace of love
Which strangely feels
A lot like death
As all the breath
Is stolen from you
Here within the swirling eddies
Parts of your soul swim
In terrifying waters
As atoms of your experience
Coalesce
And dissolve
In a pool of cold fire
When trauma’s revisitations
Peak and spire
There is no way to explain this process
To any outsider
And so you must bear it alone
There are some darknesses
Only the strong can bear
There are some traumas that are unspeakable
Using words
There are some darknesses
That are too intense
To be fully shared
Or fathomed on an intellectual level
By anyone else
And this is why your soul
So often needs
The healing embrace
Of the silence
