Some hurting is necessary. Sometimes we need to cause some pain for ourselves and others to grow. Ideally we try to hold our own and other’s hearts tenderly in the midst of pain and difficult circumstances, but there are times when we or others must feel it, stand firm and make a tough or difficult choice in order to grow.
Surely life is movement. It is change. At times it’s solidity and security but there are some times we have to bear with the shaking up of secure foundations, or break off things so new life can grow. And the limitations of empathy may sometimes lie in this. In not wanting to cause pain or finding others necessary growing pains hard to bear we try or falsely think we can try to change something. For me the best thing I feel I can provide to others who are hurting is a good example of how to bear that process with grace and dignity. To stand firm when chaos swirls and trust something better is going to break free from the process facing the full onslaught with a heart open wide in courage with fearless trust in the good and infinitely will of the Creator.
