I believe in you

Wouldn’t it have been nice to hear this from our parents and loved ones? I am with Louise Hay who writes alot about the crippling of our spirit that happens when we ingest a hurtful, shaming inner critic growing up in the heroic ego driven culture. We may be on the receiving end of this from mixed up or unhappy splintered or fractured parents.. In truth they are doing the best they can with what they were given but we all have flaws or deficit even amidst our perfection.

I watched an older Richard Grannon You Tube video yesterday on how to identify a toxic narcissist. He recommends asking someone the question “What about yourself would you like to improve or change?” See some people think they are perfect and can do no wrong and then others just judge themselves mercilessly for being human. Oh what mixed up bag this thing called life is.

We can begin to be our own champion in this life, but we can also be emotionally honest about where we sometimes fall short. That said whose ideals and standards are we measuring ourselves by? I just read a post on the disadvantages of comparing yourself with others, comparing yourself with someone very different to you who has different traits and gifts does not help. For God put you on earth to be you and trying to live up to a way of life that does not suit you will only end up with you falling flat on your face.

After hearing me share at an AA meeting many years ago another member came up to me and quoted this quote “To thine own self be true.” I must have been sharing how I felt how far short I fell as this was often pointed out to me by family who always told me I was too much of something, not enough of another. These days I am working hard to find out who that self is and to recognize that I don’t have to let it be a false one or an wounded ego running the show. I am working also to understand where unfounded fear paralyses me.. .. I beginning to be able to own where I am at fault and then see that maybe I got set up sometimes to fail by deciding to jump through hoops someone else was setting up for me..

I also like to encourage others today.. It never hurts to say a kind word.. I’m not saying to be a ‘yes’ person all of the time but we can still instill a sense of competency in others, especially those who are struggling and if they reach out we can try our very best to extend a helping hand.. All the more so if we know how and what it truly means to believe in and champion our truest selves, rather than bolster up a shaky and inherently insecure false self.

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.
