Ache

At times my heart aches for this world

There are so many signs

Of people and the planet in distress

Sometimes its impossible to turn a blind eye

And my trust in fairytales coming true

Is wearing thin

Outside my window a wild wind blows

And the skies turn dark

And deep inside my heart

I think of you over there trying to rest

And of the destruction you have seen

Today I did my best to keep the faith

And my heart ached again for loved ones

There is a feeling that we need each other now

More than ever

Social distancing is causing young ones

More loneliness than in any other generation

And on the television fires are blazing

True this life and nature and humanity

Have the capacity to be amazing

But there is also breaking apart that is happening

Tonight I felt the ache

And it reminded me to

Be tender

To all that is aching

And to transform its state

Into peace
