Ancestral legacy of battles to survive
Throws us into a trance
As we the descendants navigate this winding pathway
Of remembering and loss
There I was longing for your eyes
Taken away from me so young
Then other mirrors turned away
Too preoccupied with survival
So now if we
Struggle to thrive
Can the mirrors be found
Inside our deepest hearts and minds
Nature is here waiting for us
It is all around us
This vast benevolence
This awe inspiring majesty
Sleeping quietly
Containing and releasing
So much human misery
But when industry cut so much to the ground
While territorial greed stole
Because the wounds of the vanquished became
Cancerous
Then this destructive fire
Scorched all of our souls
Men fighting in wars
Returned with inner scars
Storms inside visited upon the innocent and young
They once were
How could the Goddess not cry
A million tears
That echo down long years
In this our current collective
Dis-ease
Hallowed ground
Became funeral pyre
The bodies piled high
Almost too painful to think of it
Six million dead
In that incineration
Unspoken sorrow lives on
Asking us to question why
And we must find where the true answer
Lies
And now when I think
Of how you longed to dance
And how impossible it became
Then it seems I have so much to dance
For us both
There has to be a way to make meaning
Of all of this suffering
There has to be a way to awaken from this trance
Stop drugging
Numbing and dumbing down
The truth
So our souls can rise renewed
From the cleansing fires
