If the mothers remember me
They whisper my name on the full moon
As memories rise
Of mine
Restless in the dreaming
Thoughts of you disappear
Deep inside
Only to emerge in dreams
Which then rise
To be recalled
With coming of the sun
Along with memories of
So many times of darkness
When I sat by both of your beds
Holding your hands as you wept
Or I did
Now that you have seemingly
Disappeared
There will be times I feel you close
On a breath of wind
Or as a feather alights next to my feet
On a morning walk
Then
As for a moment I stop
To pick it up
I remember how much
You longed for flight
But also how
Confined you became
So that in the end
Although both passings were sad
With them also came
The bittersweet relief
Of knowing that finally
Your restless spirits
Could fly
Free
