Precious

You always were

A precious soul

Even when those around you

Told you

This is not the way to be

This is not the way to look

You would be

Could be

Might be

Better if

You were less of yourself

More like me

Sad to see now

That this was something

You began to believe

Losing your way to self trust

As you allowed the heavy mantle of dust

To settle upon you

Dulling your sparkle

There amongst the lost remnants of yourself

You finally broke down and wept

As inside you began to hear the cry

Of your precious child

And it is when you decided

To leave no stone unturned

To find her

That that dust started to be

Blown away

From your soul

Who knows

How many years

Of frozen tears

You would have to unthaw

To fully heal

Who knows

The answers to the deeper mystery

Of what it was all for

Is that even necessary

Though

For when you finally come to know

How precious you really were

All along

Then none of it will matter

Because then you will have found

The most important gift

Of all

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.

  1. I love this! Often in day to day life we can feel so different from those around us, cut off. But then you read a poem like this and see your deepest personal journey reflected back at you, with new insights and wisdom in the slightly new perspective another has. The steps on the journey back to
oneself can only be taken by the individual, but it is empowering and peace bringing to realize and remember we are not alone. This is a human journey. Thank you for sharing this poem!
