This performance of Goodbye to Love by the Carpenters appears so dated now, I think all of us who have gone through broken relationships can identify with the thoughts and emotions expressed.. but I wonder.. can we every really say goodbye to love completely, doesn’t the longing to love and be loved remain and doesn’t the perceived loss of love sometimes lead us on a journey to find a different form of it to what we imagined?
To my mind love may lie in opening our hearts to embrace the full range of emotions we feel. In giving ourselves that gift we allow a transformation and sometimes a dying of dreams and illusions we held before, we open up old pains of our inner child and find a way as best we can to hold him or so that we can once again open to the possibility of love, most importantly of all.. self love!
