Wild was the wolf
But sadly those human who froze
Could never truly know
How closely the wild self lives to love
Its soul bathes in those vapours
That connects its being to the stars
And its body knows every single inch of earth
It roams
With an intimacy born
Of hunger and longing
Do not let them take the wild from you
Your eyes were born to gaze on stars
And when they fixed your gaze
On that sticking place
They almost stole your soul
Completely
Were we not born for this
To love the wild
To know it as ourselves
And never consent completely
To the severing of our soul
From nature?
Oh God do not let us forget
That somewhere deep inside
We were
All born to be
Wild creatures
Untamed and free
