A constant flame

They say the light of your twin

Is a constant flame

And even when it summons up

All the dark and hurting spaces

That past pain left

It has the capacity to stay still

And radiate love

As well as provide the mirror in which

You see your darkest soul reflected

I know this to be true

Because all I have ever received from you

Was love

Even when we misunderstood each other

You see I realised something today

That even when you hurt me

I don’t want you to go away

For the hurting is the thing that you will hear

And do your very best to set it right

And in my life there have been far too many

Dark black nights

For me to forget

What we have

For in lighting the darkness

Your love awakens me

In places that in the past hurt so deep

But you did not cause this pain

And this is not the time for me

To go back to sleep
