Not getting what you wanted

Want fully with an open heart

That knows what it loves and needs

Unconditionally

And even if this wanting

Is never fully realised

And in the failure of the getting

There are tears to cry

Which leads to a tearing on your soul

Have the power to be brave

And do not turn away

But recognise how it felt

To be truly without

And remember

You did no wrong

At the very least

You took the risk

To be fully alive

In time

The wants that cannot find

Their way to life

Will become an ache as well

A reminder of the longings

That led you to pain

But my friend

Please do not distain

Therefore

This longing to be alive

Or turn against your self

For surely maturity will show you a way

Over time

To bear the sting of it all

A way to lie peacefully

In an open field

Life made for you

While your soul ached

And wished

And wanted

As it needed to

And in the field if you surrender

I do believe

A new path will open up

Showing you a way to rise

And try again

And yet be free

Knowing you did your very best

And were not ready ever to quit

Purely as a result

Of the disappointment

Of so often

Not getting what you wanted
