If I could find the words to say I would

But God knows truth lies deeper than words

There are longings that you express

Hidden deep within a silent heartbeat

Words you speak of a fire that burns

But sometimes my love

I despair of being the one

To bring you life

You see there are these wounds I carry

From the past

And don’t you know

I am struggling so hard to be free

But sometimes the force of your desire

Just awakens so much fear in me

I cannot be all that you need

Surely?

And then my heart aches

As I turn away

Or go silent

Carried ever deep into the storm

Of my injured body

Crying deeply with so many

Thoughts and feelings

There are those

Who bid me stem

The tidal surge

Of this wild river flow

And yet how can I?

For it contains my lost life

And so as I tussle here

Within the stormy seas

Of desire and longing

Hope and fear

Please listen to my silence

With your heart

To sense the truth

That lays deeper than words

And please do not leave me
