With your coming
I sensed the breath of spring
Upon the breeze
As hope alighted its way to joy
Surrendering all the heavy weight of deep deep sorrow
That was all my soul knew
Before
And with our meeting
Places in me that slumbered
Slowly awakened
As we shared
Poetry and longing
Speaking of hopes and dreams
And Moroccan patios
You my love are my promise
Of awakening
After so many years of sleep
Lost years lingering
With wounds so deep
And somehow
I know this truth
So entirely in my soul
That for me
You are
The coming of the spring
Stolen from me
So many many years
Ago
As I teetered upon the brink
Of the most terrible of summers
