Sometimes this feeling of missing you
Fills the room
As life offers the promise of tender gentleness
That falls like a gossamer mantle
Over the ending of the day
I long to rest with you
Or share a meal
And see the face
That holds the spirit of the one I love
So deep inside
Sometimes the missing of you
Makes my heart burn
Especially late at night
When our fires of longing awaken
Freed from the repression
Of the cold light of day
Then I imagine how it would be
To taste your kiss
And feel your skin so close
To me
While liquid pleasure
Ran like silk
Through my veins
And yet for now
Even though I feel your spirit so close
Our temporal bodies
Are so far apart
And there is a both an ache in my heart
As well as gratitude
For the missing of you
For if you were not in my life
How much darker
Would be the dusk?
