What is love?

We can say that love is

The foundation of the Universe

A given force

That creates and sustains

Then takes life

Love is the supporting force

That gives life a chance to express and grow

Allowing the heart the space to know

What it feels and needs

What brings it most alive

From deep inside

Some may say that to love

Is to give everything up

To lay down your life

And maybe that is true

Thich Nhat Hahn says

That in true deep love

There are no boundaries

Between you and me

So how far is it that we can go

For love

And when is the time to surrender

To the loss of self

That makes us part of everything

And when is the time

To bring the force of love

Deep back within the self

To nurture the roots

The very foundation

That gives us life

To take out the secateurs

And prune away the dead wood

That not longer allows

Our wood to grow

And leaves and flowers to blossom

From deep within

Our individual skin and soul
