The sweet relief of nature’s peace

Glistening like stars

Sunlight dances upon water

As in the distance

The small island awaits the coming of birds

Yesterday they flew around it like a halo

Annointing my heart with their presence

Today in silence I sit

As breath of cool wind

Licks my face

And I touch base

With nature’s grace

Where before the torture of my mind

Held me bound

Oh how our thoughts so often punish us

As we count the cost

Of all we lost or that failed to be

Turning our hearts blind

To deeper feelings

And spiritual realities

And this is when

Breath of wind can set

My soul free

As I feel my being uplifted

By the vibrant glistening

Soothed by the sweet release

Of nature’s peace
