Weight

Sometimes the weight of it falls

Like lead upon my chest

There is a sense that all of the freedom I long for

So long ago vacated this place

With hopes of love

And the promise of spring

Stolen by the heavy force of clouds

That bring

Only heavy rain

And how my soul just longs for

That lighter sense

A glimpse of sunlight

The glimmer of hope

The burgeoning of the bloom

Fully radiant

No long so tightly enclosed

Within the tightened bud

Oh joy

Where did you go

Driven away

With the disappearance of the rainbow

As all our multicoloured dreams

Are reduced to black and white

Within this narrow straight jacket

That blocks all freedom

Movement and life

Oh heavy weight

Dissipate

Oh how my body

Longs

To dance naked

With gay abandon

Beneath the sun
