Why is it that I want to run from you

While a different part of me says

You need to see this through

But at the moment my vision of love is eclipsed

By this latest painful remembrance

And can’t you see how much it s hurting me

To chain me to promises

You cannot fulfil

Offering me a glimpse

Of heaven

That soon enough

Delivers me to hell

Have I lost all sense

In making this the focus of my days

When there are a thousand other ways

To live

Joyous and free

You offer me a taste of paradise

But it comes with burdens and chains

And hundreds of hoops

I must jump through

So a huge part of me

Just wants to yell

Stuff it all and

Swim away

To a place where I can see

Instead of this tumultuous wild blue sea

A clear unfettered

Horizon
