Heart I feel you so often
Rising like an ocean in my chest
Sounding out your waves of distress
When rocky conditions
Set the waves to high
Then it is I feel the flood
As I struggle under this heavy weight
Of a deluge of feeling
That so often leaves my being reeling
On uncoiling like a snake
This is when I most need
To keep my breathing calm
To know that I can flow
With in breath
And out breath
Holding fast to neither
Rather just surrendering to the feeling
But this is not always too easy to do
When I feel the waves are rising
So ocean being of my heart
Help me also
Seek those times of peace and calm
And sweet relief
When I can gaze upon
A tranquil lake or pond
And feel the breath of wind
As gorgeous magpies sing
Their song of praise to life
Knowing that often heaven is not that very far away
From places of suffering and hell
That so often set up their
Thunder rumblings
Deep inside my stormy heart
