Send your light down upon us
Show us the dark places deep within our wounded hearts and souls
That so desperately need to be borne
Help us to find a sense of hope in life
Assist us in moving out from the circumference of our pain
To embrace the hearts and souls and minds
Of those who are hurting too
Let us know that healing often comes
After the pain becomes so intense
We finally surrender it fully
To the tender embrace of love
And become willing to hear the cries
Of those
We so easily passed by
On our journey of self obsession
For without the willingness to endure the pain
How will we ever regain
Our sense of deep communion
With all that is most human
Within the soul of our self
And every single
Fellow being
