Softly afternoon light falls
Casting its shadows upon the ground
Lattice branches waft as gentle breeze
Moves the air around
Here in my heart there is warmth
After times of tumult
Anchored in this peace
I find relief
From the busy mind
Always full of seeking things
That never seem
To satisfy the restlessness
Of its truest longing and desire
And yet here I find
A place to breathe
A sense of peace and mystery
Surrounding me
Surrender you are an ocean
My soul just longs to swim within
And just as the wind
Does not argue with the rain
Neither do I need to cause myself further pain
In the pursuit of that
Which in offering escape
Often just end up encouraging
Emptiness
