Surely there is a way to taste happiness
Despite the misery of those
Who know only the ways of despair
Surely there is a sun still shining out there
Somewhere
And each storm is followed by a rainbow
Believe me I know
How it feels to be crushed or bowed down so low
All you can see is soggy ground
A lot of mud
Or mixed up leaves
But when the time comes
For strength to once again
Bring our spines upright
Then it is we realise
We were only visited by these losses for a time
And there were also choices we made
All along the line
That sometimes made things worse
And so it is
There comes a time
To seek the taste of life and happiness again
Searching for
Those wide open spaces that lead us
Far beyond the shores of death
Just as towards the end of winter
We may sense
The zest and flavour of spring
Seeking to deliver us
Far beyond
These lands we travelled
Of frost and ice
And fire
A beautiful and brilliant poem Deborah
