If the mud sticks
Guess I’ll just have to wear it
Cause God knows this world is messy
So if your mission is just to clean up
All the muck
Good luck with that
Because we are all human
All a little bit Goddam flawed
And the ones I most trust
Know that metals often rust
When exposed to air
And that some wounds leave scars
That run deep
And they will not ever be
Permanently airbrushed out of existence
So why not just appreciate
That into every life some rain must fall
And muddiness is so often
The consequence of it all
And so there are times
When mud is flung
Maybe we should not argue
Just let it stick
