Dusk

Darknesss steals in

As we move towards the shortest day

I do not wish to stray

Too far away

From this peaceful place inside

Where we two together share our warmth

As I type beside you silently

You enter your solitary field of dreams

Are you chasing rabbits or rainbows?

Spidery silhouettes of branches

Form a lattice work of stark lace

Outside our living room window

As slow crackle of fire flames

Leap skyward

There was an ache earlier

Born of sadness

Which has disappeared now

Leaving resolution in its wake

Dusk you are for me

The most nourishing

Of periods in the day

As life winds down

I feel the inner glow

Of peace

Giving sweet relief

After days of challenge

Blowing away

Misperceptions of earlier days

Revealing that so often

Wisdom is often only birthed

Through both struggles

And passage

Of time
