Soul is not some disembodied entity – it is a part of me, part of my struggles. When I bring deep conflicts housed in my unconscious to a conscious level, I am making more of my soul conscious as well. Every aspect of life or thought has some soul present within it. Conflict that is locked in a frozen state in my mind takes soul along with it. To free my mind also frees my soul and my life energy. Soul is a mighty phenomena, as big as all creation. I need to expand my mind to be able to contain it or be with it.
To experience conflict knowingly, though it may be distressing, can be an invaluable asset. The more we face our own conflicts and seek our own solutions, the more inner freedom and strength we will gain. Only when we are willing to bear the brunt can we approximate the ideal of being the captain of our own ship. Spurious tranquillity rooted in inner dullness is anything but inevitable. It is bound to make us weak and an easy prey to any kind of influence.
