Sometimes rain falls down heavy
Hearts break
Storms appear
Leaving chaos in their wake
And we reel all about the place
Trying hard to find
Our centre
Or solid ground beneath our feet
But if it is true
Just as the Buddhists say
There is no solid foundation anywhere
Why not brave our hearts
To make the leap
Even though we fear
The waters will be deep
And our being may not survive
Either drop or immersion
Conversion of this
Into a thing of thrill
Will mean the surrendering
Of fixed ideas of will
And the opening of our souls
To a most uncertain fate
But do we trust
We have the capacity
To not only survive
But thrive
No matter what
Storms or rain or earth quakes bring
That songs can rise
From deep inside
The heart of broken things
That some judge to be
Only ruins
For do not wiser souls
Already know
Ruin is so often
The birthplace
Of the new
