A clear space is that place
Where I am free to be and breathe
Free to falter and stumble
While I work as hard as I can
To grow to freely
As the person my soul intended me to be
And when the soul is squashed
Forced back so deep down inside of us
Is it any wonder we flounder and ache
We are like a fish that ends up on dry land
Holding deep inside it
The aching memory of that lost ocean
Our original home
That we knew long ago
But lost the way to
And if that fish then cries these tears
Of mercury
Is that then the medicine that sets
The soul free
Up and down we go
In and out we travel
Along our soul’s
Convoluted trajectory
Twisting us this way and that
Along the pathway of infinity
To find the clear space
Where we can be
Free
And swim and breathe
Exhaling in a huge sigh
All the reasons why
We got squashed
Losing our way
In order to be set free
