When breath is stolen

If breath is spirt

It is life

And our breath departs with our spirit

When we die

But when we have to say goodbye

Or someone we love so deeply

Is torn

Away from us

We are left winded

As our breath is stolen

And it is most often then

We need loving arms to receive our pain

So we can collapse in

And find a way

To shed the tears

Held in

As we search for a way

To breathe again

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.

    1. I watched a show in which a person who had just undergone a third major loss started being unable to breathe and go into a full blown ‘panic attack’. As someone supported him and told him to breath deeply suddenly his grief emerged like a torrent. It was pretty powerful and mirrored my own experience. We can tend to hold our breath a lot. Like you I am trying to breathe more consciously deep too, its a good calming practice…..

    1. Yes that is so true. Also do you think it has something to do with body armouring as to protect ourselves we hold our breath or if we had to go tense in the presence of invalidation or abuse that also stops our breath Its something I have been thinking about a lot lately.

      1. yes, i think shallow breathing does keep one on edge……..to keep one prepare for another possible “attack” ptsd is so very complicated as it lives in every fiber of one’s being.

      2. Yes without new soothing people to unwind and unpack it all with it lives on and on and even then I am not entirely sure how much we can move on from this tendency. It also depends how much trauma and some of us have so much. It does indeed “live in every fibre of one’s being.”

      3. I completely agree………..there is just some trauma that can never be recovered from but through lots of help and personal work, it can be tolerated. Bless you and your hard work to live the best life you can at this very moment in time.
