This I pray
That you don’t die
With all your grief locked up inside
And then she sighed
With that far away look in her eye
Suggesting she knew a deeper part of me
That I was yet to set free
Oh how those words
Made my heart ache
And fired the urge
So deep within my soul
To make of this
Slowly growing bond between us
Something majestic
And so when fearful demons called
From shadows in the wings
Telling tales that threatened to obliterate
Or burn to ash
The tender root of things
I decided it was time to put a stop to this
To close the door on those invasions
Fed by lies
That happiness for me would never be found
Again
Because deep within the circumference of her eyes
I finally discovered
An earthly paradise
Within which my soul could dance
Freed of the burden and the trance
Of seductive loneliness
That dogged me
And oh how desperately I longed for this
To be finally free
Of all of those griefs and burdens
That had nothing at all
To do with me
