Surrounded in love

Today I felt you

Surrounding me in love

All the texts and calls that came

My sister taking me out to lunch

And the gift of soft silk scarf

In pinks and oranges aflame

The gift of meeting a kindred soul

Who just happened upon my doorstep

At just the right time

A heartfelt call from my nephew

Who I love so much

Unburdening his heart

The beautiful orchid that you brought

Smiling with life and love

My God how blessed am I

What a precious life

To have survived a lot of pain

And to realise now with my healing

How hard my parents tried

And how emotionally absent they often were

With gazes often turned away

And yet I remember happy times too

When we were just an innocent family

All trying our best

And that this can only be fully healed

And fully blessed

As I learn how to trust again

That in this life

There is a well spring of love

That always surrounds me

Come what may
