The afternoon sun
Was sending its gentle kiss of light
Through the gauze curtains in you room
As we sat yesterday just talking
There is no colour in your face
And at times my heart aches
To see you in a place
Where they are just trying to hold you together
I know how hard it is
To live on the outside all alone
Where every step you have to take
Needs to be generated from within
And when the fire goes out
Where can we go to reignite the flame
Yesterday I turned to
November’s page
And the Rumi quote said
Inside each of us is a sun
Yes but so often its light is dimmed
And then its hard to find the way
Towards anything of joy
And yet as we sat there yesterday
Deep inside me I felt a warmth
For just being together meant a lot to me
And when you walked me out to say goodbye
I drove home so very very grateful
Despite everything
We are both still alive
(Dedicated to my sister
and everyone who has suffered or suffers
loss, depression and anxiety)
A very touching tribute.
“From bitter searching of the heart, quickened with passion and with pain we rise to play a greater part this is the faith from which we start.” – Leonard Cohen.

This is so beautiful. It reminds me of my visits with my 86 year old mother. We have that warmth between us and, as she walks me to the door, she waits until I get in the car and she waves goodbye. That scene will remain with me forever. Her little hand, white hair on her head, waving goodbye will warm me forever.

Awww that touches me so deep in my soul. My Mum died in December last year and I remember how she would wave me goodbye from behind her apartment complex door. These are the tender hearted things that stay so deeply with us… Hugs and much love Mary. ❤ ❤

These moments seem so small but they are the most profound memories of all. I’m sorry about the loss of your mother.
