Ode to the ocean

Its been far too long

Since I surrendered my body to your velvet watery wonderland

Of surges and flows

Which carry me into spaces of ecstasy

Never more complete

Than when shimmering sunlight sparkles

Dance like stars on the mirrored surface of your body

Dear Ocean

My heart does a leap of joy

At the very sight of you

As my body remembers the gentle touch of you

That comforted me in those dark years

My life was full of stress and commotion

It was to you that ran to

With a kind of rapture and devotion

And in your wild tussle

I found myself cleansed and purified

Of those ills

Left by too much time spent alone

Amongst human things

That stole my connection to my soul away

But one immersion in your watery depths

Always, always

Returned me to my lost innocence

And caused my heart

To sing with joy again
