I burn

When I sense the pain and reticence within you

We both ached for so long

For our meeting to come to pass

And there were so many times

We stood upon the brink of joy

Only to experience

Hopes vanquished

As we tumbled once again

Into the desolate place

Where the arms we longed to use to reach

Suddenly began to ache with frustrated emptiness

Of having no one to hold

When you were again so silent

It was hard for me to remember

The wanting you are hiding inside

Trying to protect me from more pain

And I know how frightened you are

But how can I refuse you

For I still feel we are meant to be

Twin flames torn apart

Struggling so hard

To find our way back home

To each other

And these trials of ours

Well one day

They will be a story we tell

And all these months of burning desire

During which the flame of our love steadily grew

Will make of our coming together

A bonfire in both our bodies

A reunion of fire and stars

Bursting into life within our private constellations

As we become

Precious satellites revolving

Within the sphere

Of each other’s sacred orbit
