We were born to burn
Destined to be spirits that are alight
On fire with the divine and heavenly gifts
Of joy energy expression beauty and passion
So why are so many out there
Hell bent only upon stifling our flame
On pouring cold water over the heat of our feelings and dreams
As if they feared the fire that we possess inside
Would destroy them
It is only in a world grown numb and barren and cold
That the fires and heat of grief or despair, passion or rage
Are looked upon with condemnation
Without any true feeling or regard
For the self that is burning up
With the fire they needed
To cut and sear the dysfunctional ties
That wed them to persecution, abuse or suffering
And so let this be said
We were born to burn
To be spirits awake and alive
And it is why we celebrate and resonate so deeply with the Sun
And even the Moon
Which would barely survive
Without the Sun’s reflection
Spun so many degrees beneath us
Generating its message of fire
From deep within the heat
Of its radiant face
